Resilience
Resilience. The long game. Not 'back to normal', building back in a way that holds up better next time.
Resilience isn't forgetting what happened. It's carrying it differently.
Building back stronger, the infrastructure, networks, and plans that help the whole community withstand the next one better.
- Community networks that stay connected.
- Preparedness that's shared, not individual.
- Turning what you learned into next time's readiness.
Post-traumatic growth is real, and so is the fact that you don't have to feel 'grateful for the lesson.' Both can be true. You get to define what recovered means.
- You can grow from this and still wish it hadn't happened.
- Anniversaries and smoke can bring it back. That's normal.
- Helping others can be part of your own healing.
This is a whole-community recovery. Whether you lost everything or watched from a safer street, you're part of holding it together.
You don't have to turn this into a growth story to have survived it well. And if you do find meaning here, that's yours to keep too.
